Do You Really Need That?

I’m bringing a new habit into my life. Each time I want to buy something, I’ll be asking myself the question if I really need it. To memorize the question, I’ve placed it as a note on my monitor, so that I can see it all day long.

Do I really need to ask that question?

The idea behind my new initiative is simple. From now on, I’ll be buying only what I really need and what I deeply desire. Only what I will use and enjoy after my purchase.

I really recommend you try the same thing. We often get involved with buying too many items that we don’t really need or even use. So by limiting our own possessions, we focus on what’s important.

What a simple idea to stem avoidable expenses that we incur in our day to day lives……I’d luv to implement..

So true Dimitar.

If we keep things we don’t use, need or like they can end up as clutter. I read an excellent book about clutter years ago that changed my life when it comes to hoarding. I was a HUGE hoarder and this book helped me clear out heaps of junk. The book is called “Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui” and it’s by Karen Kingston. It’s fantastic if you want to clean up your home. I never knew clutter could be so bad until I read this book. I’m much cleaner now – not obsessive, but I e.g. throw out or give away lots more stuff now and I fold my clothes. My house is much cleaner as a result, so I feel better living in it.

@ Nyomi

I’m glad you agree with me.

I too think that clutter should be removed when needed and that one’s home should be an orderly, minimalistic, and therefore peaceful place.

I have also felt the effect of clutter – becoming completely stressed out. I wouldn’t want to go through it again :)
